Unflattering photographs now authorised ...

Seriously, someone needs to do empirical research on the choice of photographs in the media. Once a public figure falls into disfavour (the most extreme example I can recall is David Davis during the election for leader of the Conservative party), the media starts using unflattering photographs of him.
